Error opening directory while building local file list for D:\ (21) The device is not ready
We recently purchase both the K1000 and K2000. We were previously using WDS. I have tried moving the images from WDS to k2000 and it seems that a few of the images for certain model machine works great. I am tring to image refurbised computers (D630's) that may have different sized hard drives from different vendors. I have tried everything I can think of. These images do contain the 100MB partition. I have created a diskpart script to create the two partitions and format them both and I still get this error. Oddly the laptops that work great (E6520's) I dont use any preinstallation tasks.
I have had the same issues with Optiplex 330's. I dont know if Kace does like different brand / size hard drives or what.

Flipped partitions D and C.
I would try this. http://www.kace.com/support/resources/kb/article/Deploy-a-Windows-7-Image-Containing-the-100-MB-System-Partition
This has been fixed in 3.4. I'm not sure what version you are on?

I tried some of the scripts from the link. I used the "Create Two Partitions" and "Format Disks". It copied 85 files and failed again. - jkries 12 years ago

What is the disk info showing under "hardware inventory". I'm wondering if your partitions are flipped. - dugullett 12 years ago

This is what it shows after the install fails:
Disk 1:
Model:
Capacity: 74.53 GB
Patition 1:
Volume : D:
Type: NTFS
Capacity: 100 MB
Partition 2
Volume C:
Type: NTFS
Capacity: 74.43 GB - jkries 12 years ago -
It sounds like it's trying to write to D:\. I would do a diskpart to flip C and D, and see if this will allow you to image. - dugullett 12 years ago

I did what you suggested it seems to be working flawlessly with any sized drive and hardware. Thanks for the help with this. - jkries 12 years ago

That all depends on how the image is captured. You can do this before the capture so that you will not have to have some many preinstalls. - dugullett 12 years ago
