File Synchronization not preserving folder structure when extracting
As the title, has anyone found a way around this? It worked perfectly in 5.2 but started ignoring the Folder Structure in 5.3.
Is it something I'm doing wrong or is this well known?
I'm using the File Synchronization to push our School Branded Templates to each workstation. The zip file has contains three folders for each different area (Main School, Prep School, Pre-Prep School) and each folder contains a different batch of Templates.
When the File Sync extracts it ignores the folder structure and just extracts all files into the Location specified.
I think I remember seeing this as a known issue when 5.3 was originally released. If that was the case, the recent Service Pack has not resolved this.
I'm currently looking at creating my own installers and scripts for deploying these, however it would be more efficient to use the File Synchronization feature which worked fine in 5.2.

I ran into this issue too after upgrading to 5.3. Last I heard it was a known issue and there is no eta for the fix. To work around this issue I set the file syncronization to "Do Not Uncompress Distribution" and then used created a script to extract the zip file then delete the zip file.

Since posting this I have found using Zip2Exe from Nullsoft (http://nsis.sourceforge.net/Zip2Exe) isn't a bad solution either. You can pre-configure the extraction path when you create the .exe then use the Managed Installation portion of the K1000 to push the .exe using the /S silent switch. - Arcolite 12 years ago
This problem extracting ZIP files when created with certain tools was corrected in agent bundle 5.3.53177. If this version or later is still failing to extract contents properly, please contact Dell KACE Support.

We have deployed the new agent bundle (5.3.53177) and use 7Zip to create our .zip files. but I have even tried WinRAR and the built in Windows Zip creation.
The File Syncs still fail to extract properly.
I will contact Dell KACE Support. - Arcolite 12 years ago
