Good Recommendation to deploy Security Patch

Microsoft has released I.E Fix which is available by clicking Fix It. We would like to deploy this via KACE if possible.

Any recommendation or if anyone has done it as yet?

The two fixit files are MSI's so you should be to do a silent install using msiexec

    • Do you create two instances of deployment or can you run one after the other? How are you doing it at your end? - hjansari 12 years ago
  • I just ran this in my test environment.

Install MicrosoftFixit50939.msi on a test system and force a check in. The fix will show up as CVE-2012-4969 in normal software inventory.

Upload the MSI to the software inventory item that was just created.

Create a MI, use the software inventory item for CVE-2012-4969.

Use the default installation command with the parameter /qn. - jknox 12 years ago
  • Hi Jknox.. dont you install MicrosoftFixit50938.msi as well?

and does it only work on 32 bits or 64 as well? Very unclear statement from Microsoft. - hjansari 12 years ago
    • No, just the enable. - jknox 12 years ago
  • Dont you require both? - hjansari 12 years ago
  • just 50939 38 removes it - SMal.tmcc 12 years ago

The actual patch should be available in the patch feed 48 hours after release as well.
