I would not recommend that you use a self-signed certificate. Using a self-signed certificate will require the certificate to be installed for each endpoint browser.
The management of self-signed certificates can be a nightmare task. Therefore, the SMA contains a wizard to generate a certificate signing request (CSR) that can send to a well-known certificate authority (CA) to request an SSL certificate.
