K1000 agent install On k2000 scripted

Where should I place k1000 agent post install task to Reduce machine duplication in kace?  We use a custom script to rename computer at end of every script.  So should k1000 agent be after the rename?  Or right before rename and utilize the CLONEPREP property in the install.  ?

Thanks

We have ours at the end of every scripted/system image. Our naming task is one of the first steps. This also helps us with the way our machines join our AV server.

One thing to keep in mind is that the the computer name will update after the next inventory update. So if it was installed before your name change the chances of duplication should be reduced.

  • Ok we have naming task at end so the computer doesn't have to be touched till the end of the install. If I can figure it out I want to move to the PE environment. - stagebooms 12 years ago
    • I use http://www.kace.com/support/resources/kb/article/Get-Set-ComputerName?action=artikel&. This will prompt at the beginning for the name, and apply mid level. - dugullett 12 years ago

My agent install task is a couple steps after my rename task and that works fine fine for the most part. I do run into occasional problems if the rename doesn't work as expected sometimes resulting in duplicate machines.
