K1000 physical->virtual migration: Ticket links when changing hostname?
Good afternoon,
In anticipation of migrating from a physical server to a virtual server for our K1, which includes a new hostname, we had two major concerns:
1. Agents would be pointing to the old physical server
2. Emailed ticket links will point to the old server for tickets originally created on our physical server.
I found and tested a script that will update the reporting server address for currently installed Kace agents. This is something we can push out in advance of bringing our VM online. I'm not concerned so much with that.
On the old ticket links, we could run both servers concurrently and just disable the POP configuration on the physical server to prevent new tickets from being created on our old box, and then just run out the clock on existing tickets until they're all closed, at which point we could take the old server offline.
I'm wondering if anyone has gone through this process of migrating their kbox while changing the hostname and how they dealt with this issue.
Thanks,
