K1000 Replication - Replicating 8GB file in clientdrop

Greetings,

I'm currently having an issue with Replicating an 8 GB file (Office 2010 + Language Packs) from our K1000 to our replication sites in our remote offices. It doesn't return an error or ever fail, it simply sits there saying it's got one file left to transfer, the legend is saying that the window is open for hi transfer.

I have a few things to note: I'm aware that 8GB is above the level that version 5.3 can unzip and deploy, though I believe 5.4 has changed that, we haven't upgraded to 5.4 yet. I don't know if there is a limit on file sizes that the K1000 will replicate, but if there is, does anyone know if that changed in 5.4 as well? I would copy the file but it looks like KACE appends some additional characters after each file, so doing that likely wouldn't help, unless KACE would see it's there and make the changes itself?

Has anyone else experienced the need to replicate large files? I'd appreciate any input. Thanks!

Answer Summary:
KACE is operating as expected as it will come back to the file and pick up where it left off. Though it may have some restrictions that need to be turned off. Contacting KACE Support would be the next course of action.

samzeeco,

I will get the answer for you but I wanted to let you know that the release notes are posted and you can find them here:

  • When you see this behavior do you have network restrictions in place. When it seems to stall out do you find curl errors in your log? If this is so KACE is operating as expected as it will come back to the file and pick up where it left off. 5.4 has the same behavior so upgrading would not resolve this.

If this is not the case then I would recommend you open a ticket with KACE Technical Support as with restrictions turned off, your package should download, though it may take a long time depending on your environment. - KACE_Mary 12 years ago
