K1000 unavailable when daily reports run

Every night at 12:00 I get two reports - Security Run Output and the Daily Run Output.  They take about 30 minutes to run and during that time the K1000 is in accessible.  I called into support to see if I could change the backup schedule to weekends only and the response is that this cannot be changed and no attempt at resolving this.

Is this normal?  I am planning on using this globally so what am I supposed to do?  Tell Japan and China not to have issue that need addressing between 2:00 and 2:30 their time.  Should I tell England wait until after 6:30 AM to log issues?

  • The only option on the Settings > Control Panel > Backup and Restore page is the hour at which to run the backup. It is daily and cannot be further customized. - grayematter 11 years ago
  • I called Kace and they said I have to have it customized to stop the backup. I have the VM version so I don't need it backed up at all. VMWare handles that for me.

Funny that I have to customize it so it is not useless for 30 minutes to an hour a day. - JordanNolan 11 years ago
  • Hi Jordan. The reason they said customization is because out of box the K1000 runs backups nightly. There is no way to change this at this time unless Pro Services goes into the back end and changes it as it is outside the way the K1000 is designed. Pro Services is a fee based service. If you would like to have the ability to dictate when a backup is run, (IE every other day, once a month etc) I recommend putting in an idea at http://kace.uservoice.com. That is the forum for improvement and the developers respond etc. Please check it out. - KACE_Mary 11 years ago
  • Thanks Mary. I am just frustrated to find this out this way. I really do not see any reason why something that costs enterprise level prices would ever be unavailable for 30 minutes a day with no option to change it or even require the offline time. My Exchange, SQL, Oracle, Domain Controllers, etc do not need to be offline for backups and they have to be done every day. - JordanNolan 11 years ago
