KACE K1000 - populating the User Console Library. How to get Software to show up in the UCL "Downloads"

Thanks to you Ninjas, I'm much more familiar with KACE already.

I have a question, though. I have "taken over" this KACE setup, and someone has been using and maintaining it before I got here.

I am trying to populate the User Console Library, so our users can go download, and find license keys for, many of the applictions we use.

Under Inventory->Software we have a LOT of entries listed. Thousands.

When I go to ServiceDesk->UserConsoleLibrary , I can see six different entries. So someone put them in there at some point.

When I want to make a New entry, I get the option to choose Type. Download. Install. Script.

Then, as I open the "Select software" dropdown box under "Download" - only a few entries show up.

How do I "populate" that list. I've found the corresponding entries in the Inventory->Software - but I can't see what is different about them, so that *they* show up in the "Select Software" in the UCL - and not the 10.000 other entries in the Inventory->Software.

So - How do I get a specific piece of software to appear in the UCL - I've tried creating an Asset - but that's not working.

Thank you all for your help.

  • Finally it made sense after a bit of tinkering.
Only software with an associated file (installer) would show up in those lists. Finally! THANK YOU :) - Odal 10 years ago
