KACE1000 & Software Auditing

Hi all -

I am a security analyst at an organization I am still relatively new at. They use KACE1000 and I am working on developing a process for auditing our devices discoverable software to determine what devices have what installed. This way as an ongoing security task I can audit, perhaps every 30-45 days, to see what changes have occurred and be sure they were permitted and that those versions are being updated, etc.

I am fairly novice with this appliances GUI and was wondering if there are any more advanced KACE users who have a suggestion for how i can more effectively do this without it being an incredibly time consuming and methodical process.

Presently, I have exported ALL discoverable pieces of software (filtering out certain publishers) which is showing me the Name/Version/Publisher. The next step I am at is simply drilling down each item to see which devices the are installed on so i can design a report (manually) for select pieces of software that either are not allowed, or need to be updated.

Any ideas on how i can better achieve my goal are appreciated.

Hello

Have you checked all the builtin reports available for Software auditing under the Reporting Menu?

1. Software Catalog - Not Approved Software Installations
2. Software Catalog - Software Compliance

There are many more.

Thanks
Abhay
