Overlooking something for enablebitlocker.vbs deployment??
I am attempting to deploy enablebitlocker.vbs to existing and new system as part of a company upgrade project. I have used the CCTK to create a package to change bios settings as the first post install task including turning on the TPM setting. I have also pushed this from the K1000 to test and it works great. The second post task is the enablebitlocker.vbs script to start the encryption. I have searched the internet to make sure that I am doing this correctly and found that my post config setup is identical to those that have deployed this in the past..
Dependencies:Enablebitlocker.vbs
Task1
On Success:
Launch Program
Directory: $(KACE_SYS_DIR)
File: cscript.exe
Parameters: $(KACE_DEPENDENCY_DIR)\enablebitlocker.vbs /on:tpm /l:c:\bitlockertemp\bitlocker.txt
Here is where this becomes very odd.. The task completes successfully on both the K1000 and the k2000 but nothing happens.. I have made sure the TPM is enabled and ready.. I have run this as Local and as Network Admin.. I assume because it does not fail there is no log created because it is not created. I have tested the script to make sure it is not an issue with the VBS and it works fine..
I have just tried to run this as a .BAT file:
cscript enablebitlocker.vbs /on:tpm /l:c:\bitlockertemp\bitlocker.txt
Again it shows completed successfully but nothing on the client side. I can also run this script local and it works fine.
I am deploying this to new Dell E7240 machines with Windows Enterprise x64 operating systems..
Any help would be greatly appreciated.. At this point I would even be happy with another way to complete the task as long as it works.. LOL
Thank you in advance!!

Thank you for your response SMal.
I have attempted to call the script as shown and I am still getting the same.. The script shows it has completed but nothing happens.. After further testing I have found that I can run the script on my personal machine ( I am local admin ) but am unable to run the script on the target machines at all.. It would seem that it does not like network admin creds to run the script.. I would assume that you would need to run as local admin but have been unable to do this on the new machines - tmcvay828 9 years ago-
If the network credentials are members of the local admin group it should make no difference.
Can you share your vbs script. The problem could be that the kace client is 32bit so it would redirect any calls to the 32 bit syswow64 directory. If you are making exe calls within your script trying using the full path for the exe vs just the exe's name. See new answer for some links of past bitlocker problems this helped on. - SMal.tmcc 9 years ago-
Hello SMal.. I am using the un edited enablebitlocker.vbs Sample Deployment Script unedited at this point.. Here is the script

Also in our environment we have gotten away from any local admins on the machines. I am currently local admin on my machine for testing purpose while setting up all of our software packages. Adding a network admin as local may be a posibility but is not currently how our systems are setup, So our network admins are not setup as local on the clients machines. We are using a Network admin account to install post install tasks since all of our software packages are on located on a share on our network.
Thank you again for all of your work working thru this issue - tmcvay828 9 years ago -
Is the account you are using for this a member of the local admins group on the machines? "We are using a Network admin account to install post install tasks since all of our software packages are on located on a share on our network" - SMal.tmcc 9 years ago
-
SMal..
No, the Network admin creds that I am using are not part of the local admin group on the client machines..
We currently do not have any "local admins" on the client machines at all..
I do setup a local admin during the unattend.vbs for the build but this user is not part of the network admin group so if I use this account the pos install packages do not install.. My thought is to add the local admin created during the unattend be added to the network admin group also to see if this corrects my issue.. - tmcvay828 9 years ago -
you need to make the user you are using a member of the local admin group. You can do this via GPO or as a post task. or like you said, the local user you are using give rights to the network share. - SMal.tmcc 9 years ago

Thank you.. I will give this a shot and let you know how it goes - tmcvay828 9 years ago

Finally having time to sit and look over everything I found that during the script I was creating a log file to a directory that did not exist. This was causing the script to fail with no information and look like it completed. Once the script was written to create the directory before the script was run it would allow the script to function correctly.. So now seems that permissions had nothing to do with the script failing after all.. Thank you for all of your help!! - tmcvay828 9 years ago
