If it is not possible then I might have to try and come up with a naming convention that includes the sub type.

in short no, Sub Asset Types are only appropriate to be used to define discoverable, agentless devices, so I wondered why you would need that?
Then I saw who was posting and guessed that this was probably a CMDB related question, to enable you to see what asset types make up configurations etc etc.
Sadly it doesn't change the answer.....
Yeh you are right Hobbsy. I can do something with the naming convention so that it will have a suffix that equates to the sub type. The problem is that if they have 10 related assets and the barcode number is used as the name the person perusing those assets doesnt know which one is which.
