USMT with K2
We would like to start taking advantage of the USMT option in the K2, but it seems that you can only deploy a user state WITH an image. We would like to be able to deploy the user state as the very last part of our imaging process to minimize the amount of time that the user cannot use their account. The problem is that if we push the user state with the image then anything that the user does from the time of our USMT capture will not be saved on the new computer (hence the need to do it as the last step). Is this possible?

Are the users getting new machines? What you could do is capture the user state from their old machine. Download it from the K2, and manually run it on the new machine. Its just a Microsoft easy transfer file.

That's too bad that they don't have an equivalent to the "Run Now" of the K1 scripts. Thanks for the response I saw what you were talking about, but haven't had a chance to test it yet. That is what I was looking for though. - horstj 12 years ago

It would be nice to have the ability to deploy the user state independently of the imaging process. In my case I just need to move my users to a new computers, but they're also on a different domain. I think my only choice besides re-imaging the pc's is to get a book and spend a week learning USMT command line code. - Ultimation 11 years ago
