Cant complete Windows 11 image capture. Server says "Finalizing Image".

I have had this issues in the past and I believe the resolution was to scrap the image and create a new VM and build a new image.  I was also using Virtual Box at this time.

Fast forward to today and I am using VMWare (VirtualBox freezes on the PXE boot) and I am having the same issue.

I was able to successfully build and capture one Windows 11 Enterprise image.  I realized after deploying the image to a physical computer that i needed to make some changes.

I usually create a snapshot right before I run sysprep incase I need to roll back to the snapshot, make some changes, run sysprep again then capture the image.

In this case I did just that, however when I tried to upload the new image, everything works fine with the capture however the server will get stuck at "Finalizing Image".

The steps I took to try and resolve this issue was to scrap that vm completely.  Set up a new VM, install and configure Windows. Run sysprep again and the server is stuck at "Finalizing Image" again.

The next thing I tried was to take a different laptop, install VMWare on it and start over with a new VM and install of Windows.  Same issue.

The K2000 will sit there saying "Finalizing Image" until you reboot it.  After the reboot the server will state something like "Finalizing image failed due to server reboot".

I would like to know if anyone has any insight to why this is happening.

Hi, I haven't seen that before. Could it be a network issue? Maybe something in the middle that could be affecting the traffic? Most of the network traffic that the SDA does is usually considered "insecure" so it could be that.

Here, I was able to get from my network team a VLAN just for imaging so I have my syspreped VM right next to the SDA and I haven't seen this happening.

I ended up submitting a ticket with Quest on this.  Turns out that if the server is updating RSA's (Remote Site Appliances) the K2000 will not touch a pending image until it is finished.  Unfortunately we have 23 remote sites and the process of updating them took a couple day.

The SDA can only do one thing at a time.  In our case the SDA was going through and updating drivers on the 23 RSA's meaning Id have to wait to get my images finalized.
