Capture K-image and WIM failes on KACE 2000

Hello Sirs,

I am new to the KACE 2000. I'm using it in trial (VM on premisses) and now I am busy with capturing an image from a base Windows 7 x64 on a Dell Optiplex 380.

This process failes with the K-image when it is busy capturing folder Drive:\Windows\ehome.

With WIM I just get a message that capturing has failed.

How can I troubleshoot this?
Has anybody ever had the same issue?

Thank you in advance for the help.

Regards,

Ron

  • Hi nheyne,

I think you're right. I am doing a CHKDSK and bad files appear.

    I'll keep you posted.

    • Any file corruption, even minor, to me warrants starting over on a different machine. You may have success removing the corrupt files, but I would feel very hesitant to use a machine with even slight file corruption as my image source. - nheyne 11 years ago

It could mean that there is a corrupt file in that directory, or even a bad sector on the hard drive.  I would try using a different machine to capture your image.

You are on the right track, usually a chkdsk /f takes care of this.  Worst case delete that folder and copy it from another machine to your master.

If this reoccurs you should use control panel - Backup and restore - Create a system image to a second drive.  Replace the drive getting errors.  Boot with a windows DVD and restore the new drive from the system image.
