Dell 64 bit desktops chassis type = unknown since upgrade to version 6

Since upgrading to version 6 on the K1000, all of my Dell x64 bit desktops show the chassis type as unknown and labels no longer show the correct listing of machines

has anyone else come across this ?

cheers,

John

It's a Bug with 6.0. I had a ticket submitted regarding this issue back at the end of May after we upgraded our K1, it was closed with status "Bug Submitted" and an assurance that it would be addressed at some point via update.

  • Cheers mate, thanks for that, I will wait (and wait) for it to be addressed in a future update - KiwiJJ 10 years ago
    • Had a customer service call from the Kace folks the other day, I brought up the outstanding tickets I had. A day or so later my "Unknown chassis type" ticket got re-opened. I had a tier3 tether to my box and it appears that they have the ability to resolve this now. - Asevera 10 years ago
      • Cheers, I will contact Kace support :) - KiwiJJ 10 years ago
      • I contacted support and they suggested to use the old 5.5 agent until they have their product team resolve the issue, is this what you did ? - KiwiJJ 10 years ago
      • Negative, I'm using the 6.0 agent everywhere. Support had to tether to the box to fix things, it was a tier3 engineer that did the work. After a reboot all my devices are checking in with the correct chassis type now. If need be, have them reference my ticket. ID#425941 - Asevera 10 years ago
      • Thanks for that, I gave them your ticket number and they tethered in and resolved the issue. - KiwiJJ 10 years ago

The change made to the server was just a temporary workaround to the issue and to validate the issue.

A new agent build is what is required to fix this and will be addressed in a future release.
