Different result by using RIS or sysprep

With my Toshiba Satellite pro 610, I get 2 different result depending if I use Sysprep or RIS. The sysprep Image is create from the RIS...

If I RIS the laptop, then I have absolutely no problem.
If I RIS the laptop then sysprep it:

I just copy the oempnppath from the sif (RIS) to the sysprep.ini so they are identical.
When a user logged on the computer is looking for Toshiba SD Card Controller Type A if I just open the window and click next (to make it search the driver) or if I point Xp on c:\drivers\autres then XP find and install the driver.

For every user logging on that computer Nvidia Nview is asking for a configuration. I don't have that problem if I just RIS the computer.

Any help will be appreciate!

1. How can I remove the Nview configuration
2. Why the SD card driver is not detecte properly?

This is my sysprep.inf:

Are you sure that the SD card driver exists in one of the specified paths? If you point XP to it manually it may search subfolders, but during the RIS and Sysprep process it will not, so make sue the INF and.sys files are in the root folder of one of the specified paths.

Yes the drivers are on the HD in c:\drivers...

If I run RIS then I have absolutely no problem
Then I just RIS a computer, copy locally the c:\drivers and modiy the sysprep.inf and then run a sysprep.

Then it does not find the driver.
If I point XP directly on that directory then I have no problem.

Why not ditcht the sysprep.inf file all toghether. I would suggest having RIS do all the major work for you, just create a patched slipstreamed I386 file and image the machines from there using the unattend.sif file. It is structured basically the same as the sysprep.inf file. Get RIS to assign the machine names as well and a default OU.

We are trying to use 1E RightClick Deployment to deploy our computers. With that tool we can deploy our computers without the need of a technicien intervention.

RCD is using powerquest to deploy the image. So we feed that image with RIS and then sysprep it. We are using mostly what was in the sif file. So we are mostly doing what you are suggesting.

What I don't understand is why the result is different between a full RIS computer or a sysprep computer feed with RIS...

Is it a way to help XP detect that driver?

By the way, do you have an idea how to prevent NView (from Nvidia Geforce 4) to show up for every user?

For the nview...

well you can create a custom batch file to run after the install is done, this would involve the GUIRUNONCE section of your INF file. What you need to do is set AUTOLOGON=1

make sure the admin password is present for LOCAl admin
set AUTOLOGONCOUNT=1

what this will do is log the computer on after it reboots as administrator 1 time only. So now you need to edit [GUIRUNONCE] and have it launch a batch file, this will launch as the administrator logged in (as above). Be sure to add at the end of your batch file the Shutdown command. Shutdown.exe is avialble in the win2k reskit.

So the goal of the batch file is to remove the nview startup command in the registry

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows|CurrenVersion\Run

the key should be:

NVCPLDaemon

RUNDLL32.EXE C:\WINDOWS\System32\NvCpl.dll,NvStartup

and

NWiz

nwiz.exe /installquiet

make a .reg file and have it remove these 2. Run the .reg file from the batch file with the /s switch to run it silently.

Voila.

were the instructions clear enough to follow? I take it they were.

Yes, because we are already using autologon :)
