  • I just got a different error this time, indicating that the K2 doesn't work with Sierra. Really? A year after the OS was released, and with High Sierra due any day now? Really?!

    CREATE NETBOOT IMAGE VERSION 1.3

ERROR: An error has occured while creating the netboot image
    make_netboot.sh only supports Mac OS X 10.5, 10.6, 10.7, 10.8, 10.9 and 10.10 volumes for imaging
Another possible error is the selection of an invalid volume for image creation - kentwest 7 years ago
    • I tried this on a different Mac than the one I originally had problems with; it may be running an older version of Media Manager (Version 3.7.120231).

Just updated; yes, yes it was an older version. Just downloaded Version 4.1.28.

But now I'm back to the original non-descript error:

      NetBoot Image Creation Error
An error occurred while building the NetBoot image.

  • I just learned from the Quest tech support that there's a newer version of the K2 (I was on 4.1.182; now it's 4.1.1148) and the K2000 Media Manager (I was on 4.1.28; now it's 4.1.1016); the update was not visible from the K2 interface; I had to manually go get it from the Quest web site. - kentwest 7 years ago
  • I had a hard time getting the "Install macOS Sierra" app using my new Sierra machines (unboxed this week). The Apple Store kept complaining that it could not complete my purchase, and wouldn't download it as "Sierra is already on this Mac", and wasn't in my Purchases tab. I finally managed to get it downloaded using a two-year old Mac, and then copied it to my new Macs.

It seems that in times past I had to open the installer (right-click, Show Package Contents) and browse to /Contents/SharedSupport and copy out the InstallESD.dmg file to use as my Source Media Path, but trying that now results in the error mentioned above. However, with the new K2000 Media Manager, pointing directly to the "/Applications/Install macOS Sierra" file (it may need to be in /Applications; seems I had problems when it was on my Desktop), the process *appears* to be working; it's been cooking about 4 minutes now, without the error that had been happening within about 30 seconds. - kentwest 7 years ago
  • Still working with support on this. They wanted me to connect my machine to the same vlan that the server is on. Still getting same error message. I am waiting to hear back from them. - fleminsa 7 years ago
