General suggestions for a noob.
....Noobie needs help...
Just been given the responsibility to maintain 5 desktops pcs.
I am somewhat knowledgeable but this task will test me.
I would like to use software to make an image of 1 completed installation on 1 pc & then copy it to the other 5 units that have no installed operating systems so they are all identical. Also I would like to be able to make scheduled image back ups of the individual pc's that would allow me to wipe the drive & then reinstall the b/u should there be any issues. It would be nice to be able to store the images on the server & then back that image up to a dvd.
If anyone has any suggestions as to a software program that would allow this to be done easily I would forever be greatfull..
The six sytems are loaded with windows 2000 pro (1 act as a server, central data storage mostly)

5 Pcs...lol
Wish thats all i had to control.
Ok what your describing is imaging.
Does your site use Active Directory?
Is the hardware NOT identical?
If the answer is yes to either question, you will need to use sysprep (ms tool)
Here are two major imaging products:
Symantec Ghost Personal.. (dont think you would want enterprise)

Acronis
