Ghost Console - remote depolyment
Hi,
I am trying to deploy windows XP image using ghost console v8. The image is located at a remote site. I have tried to the following:
- pointed to remote server, where image is located.
- Excuted the task to deploy that image to machinees local to the server with the image.
- All pc's did boot up and connected to the session on the ghost server (not local)
- It said that i would take 11 hours to push the image?
- It was pulling the image to back to the ghost server and then pushing it back to the remote site?
is there a way to get the console to start the sesion on the remote server and push image from that server to its local work stations?
Any suggestions would appreciated.
Thanks,
Abs

The simple way would be to install the ghost server on the remote server. Ghost is licensed by how many total clients you have not how many servers.
You can move all of your existing PCs to to the new server by remotely stopping the ghost client service on the PC. Copy the pubkey.crt file from the new server to the PCs. The pubkey.crt file is located in c:\program files\symantec\ghost on both machines. Restart the ghost client service.

I've never tried this - but the first thing that comes to mind is booting from a drive mapping boot disk. From what I understand, that will connect the computers to the ghost server but they will be directed to an image file on a different server (in this case your on-site server).
I admit - I'm not doing my homework on this one, but that is where I would start to look.
