Good news if u want to Image Windows!!!
I have read a few posts on this board where people have asked about the licensing issues of Imaging / Ghosting Windows or MS Office across multiple PC's.
You may want to read this Microsoft document...
http://download.microsoft.com/download/0/6/7/067ff52c-a552-4f6e-852c-03d086b41f68/reimaging.doc
It states that...
Any user can use an Enterprise Volume copy of Windows (ie: doesn't require activation) to replace an oem copy on ANY windows based PC/Laptop etc. WITHOUT having to pay for anything other than the Media Kit and a single Volume License key.
It also states that...
A volume license copy of MS Office (any flavour) CANNOT be used in place of an equivalent OEM copy of MS Office.
This essentially means that if you have a lot of PC's you won't get around buying Volume licenses of MS Office but at least you won't have to do anything complicated with your Windows installs, so, no more SYSPREP!!! Woohoo!
