I have a question regarding cyberlink powerdvd dx 8.2

edit: adding 1 screen shot

I tried to play a blue-ray disc on my computer. i was informed by my system that an update was required. on completion of downloading the free update i received an error message informing me that this update could only be applied to a dell computer. after some research i came across a solution on this website detailed below, which i currently believe may fix my problem.

(  change custom.ini value to
CLScan='  )

my only issue with this is i do not know how to locate the custom.ini file described
currently i can only get this far

start->computer->C:drive->program files (x86)->powerdvd dx

if someone could help me out by telling me where to look from here i would appreciate it.

custom.ini will be in the install directory along with the downloaded source in your case. If not present, create one in the same path where the exe is present.Prior to installing the software change the value to CLScan=' or CLScan=* inside the custom.ini file. By default it will be CLScan=DELL

  • i added a couple screenshots of what my powerdvddx folder looks like. i personally cannot see an install folder, but it might be under an obscure name for all i know. could you tell me what i have to do next? - sphynx19 9 years ago

Sorry I think my answer wasn't clear enough. To be very clear, you have said that you downloaded the update. Go to that downloaded location and see for the source exe location. In this location you can see the custom.ini file, If not create one and add the above said values.

Note- after download do not run the update. create this custom.ini and then run the setup.

exe and custom.ini should be in the same location.

After downloading are you able to see the setup? Along with the exe keep this custom. Ini file and then install it.

Open notepad and create it with the needed  values and place it along with the exe. Now run the exe. It should work fine.
I  do not have a test pc to record and show you at present.
