I would like to know more about Agentless?
I am in the process of managing our K1000 service desk in allowing student of obtain software. I will need a deployment solution that will allow the agent to be install for a period. i.e. (agent install on a checkout period for a week or so(allowing software installation, these software can be install by students for the period of their University study), do you know any solution that can work in-conjunction with the K1000 service desk?

Agentless discovery within Dell KACE very much comes from a desire to populate your inventory with devices that will not take an agent i.e. Printers, Switches,Hubs etc and as such using agent less technology will enable you to scan your network, register that those devices exist and ensure that you continue to see that they are there.
When it comes to using agentless on Devices, or computers, the discovery aspect is the same, however agentless will not allow you the management parts of Dell KACE i.e. Updates, patching, software deployment.
From your perspective to be able to deploy software to a student computer discovered by agentless will not work. You will need to have the agent installed to manage the device effectively.
That being said, there is nothing stopping you installing the agent, installing the software and then deleting the device from inventory, as long as you do not exceed your Dell KACE license threshold.
The only other option may be to make the software available via the end user portal, which means the user will need a logon, that may be worth exploring.

If you install and then remove the agent from a loaner system, I would also recommend enabling the MIA setting to remove systems that haven't checked in or no longer have an agent after a period of time. - jknox 9 years ago
