IT Service Catalog
Hello all,
I've been tasked with creating a Service Catalog so that our end-users and IT can view who is responsible for what and how to handle certain issues we support. I have a few tools at my disposal to try and create this. One is SharePoint, and obviously the other is KACE. I am curious to see if anybody in this community has created something like this, and if they have, would you be willing to share your example.
Thanks!
Nick

Nick, Service Catalog is something that has really been avoided by KACE and to be honest, I don't blame them as it can be a contentious area. The first question that needs to be answered is what do you perceive your service catalog to be and what will it contain? From your question it looks as if you want to be able to define a service and the record information about that service within KACE. That can be done by creating a Service Asset type and defining what data you want to store within each record i.e. Type of Service, Availability. SLA, Manager etc However if you do this you need to consider how you display this data to the end user, as Asset data is not readily displayed on the end user portal.
If your idea of a Service Catalog is a list of services that the end user can request, then the approach may be better made by creating a queue through which the user can raise a ticket associated with a service and then make the queue available in the useful links are of the enduser console i.e. Request a new Print Queue opens a ticket in the Request print Queue Queue (sorry poor example)
In short I think doing this in KACE is, at present too challenging to be of use
