AppDeploy Site Wishlist
I keep a list of suggestions people send, and while I always encourage feedback I have not come out and requested it in awhile. So, I'd like your wish list: if the site could have a new feature, offer a new resource, employ some new enhancement please share your ideas.
While some ideas like sharing files (particularly MST files) may not be something I can pull off (I'd have to review every one to ensure no serial numbers or personal information was being shared by accident), this is still a common request and hearing it makes me think of ways it could be done.
I'm not necessarily looking for help on how to implement something like MST sharing; I really just want to hear general suggestions on how AppDeploy might be made to better meet the needs of the community.
Let's hear it!

Hi Bob,
I kind of aired some thoughts in a recent posting:
http://itninja.com/question/how-do-you-roll-out-new-machines?4883&mpage=1&key=愳
I guess I just find it strange that 80% of the posting activity in the deployment forums are in the GPO sub-forum (so I'm guessing most people use GPO to deploy software?), but it seems like 80% of all "recipes" posted in the PKB are written by people using other deployment methods (SMS, etc...). Not that I suspect there's anything that can be done about that. But I have noticed more than a few times that a given application in the PKB will cite the method as "Installer with custom transform" when none of the postings provided mention transform creation. e.g. Nero 7. Don't get me wrong - a lot of the stuff provided is great anyway.
Thanks for maintaining this great resource - it helps me out a few times every week.

Kyle,
While I am very sure GPO is a hugely popular distribution method, as far as post count goes this can be somewhat attributed to the fact that it has been around the longest. I added several more forums a year or so ago at the request of members, but GPO has been up there for a few years. The details contributed to the KB are a bit free form today-- pick a category and type away. I edit the entries, make sure they are in the right category and approve them on a daily basis. The "most common method used" is actually specified by those users that rate the difficulty of the application. Perhaps making this an optional field to those submitting information would better help it get used. Often people don't bother to rate the difficulty of packages at all. Further, if only one person rates it then whatever method they say they use is listed as the most common (100% in this case).

I've requested this before but I'll throw it out again.
I'd love to have the option of checking off Wise or Installshield when posting in the packaging forum and Softgrid or AVS in the virtualization forum then have that display next to the post. I find we waste a lot of cycles asking people which tool they're using.
Can we use a different domain that links in with Appdeploy to host the files? That way the legal issue goes away. Or perhaps a "report abuse" link on each upload that will automatically delete the file after a few complaints?
