Capturing changes happened to a system after installing an application
Hi all,
I need to get the changes happened to a system after installing an application or sometimes after adding some user preferences in already installed applications..
For this now I am using the method of running system scans and taking the difference in Wise package studio.
But it is taking a lot of time and seems difficult..
So I would like to know if there is any simple method to capture these changes...
Many Thanks in advance
Arun

It all depends on what you want the output to be.
If you just want to know what those changes are, then a lightweight snapshot tool, such as InControl or InstallRite, will tell you what has been changed.
If you want to incorporate those changes into an MSI, then you're looking at using a professional packaging toolset like Wise or InstallShield.
Yes it does take a lot of time and yes it is difficult - that is what keeps us all in a job!
Thanks,
