determine MSDN vs. Enterprise license ?
Got a client trying to inventory better. They are
struggling with tracking MSDN software vs. Microsoft
Enterprise licenses. They have 140 MSDN users each
user has their own product keys for the software. I
have mentioned (and they know) the long term goal
would have to be repackaging all their apps regardless
of MSDN or off the shelf etc. to be able to
differentiate between the 2.
However, short term, any ideas that you may have on
how they could distinguish between enterprise licenses
and MSDN licenses would be greatly appreciated. My
registry snoops have come up empty but maybe I'm not
looking in the right place. Also, my SQL queries in
Altiris have come up snake eyes.

I'm not sure if this will help because you are using Altiris, but SMS 2003 SP3 as well as SCCM 2007 have built in reports that can ID what sales channel a microsoft product was purchased through. If you can find out how SMS/SCCM pull this off you may be able to replicate it in Altiris. I'm going to dig deeper on my end too, I'd like to know for myself, and of course help you out too!
