Have a user machine that is reporting "Uptime Since Last Reboot: 4 days 22 hours 24 minutes" Although the user powers off his machine every night?

Is the term Reboot and and cold shutdown not the same?

  • Are you 100% positive that the machine was powered off? Does the event log verify that? I only ask because I have dealt with users that don't know the difference between logging off and powering off. - chucksteel 9 years ago
  • I was going to ask the same question, I have seen a few people, who 'shutdown' by pressing the button on the screen. Yep, really, it has happened. they report fast start up times, nearly instant. - Badger 9 years ago

Had this happen a while back using SCCM, might be the same issue here.  PCs would occasionally report no shutdown in x days when we knew for a fact it had been.  Rerun the trigger on the local machine and see if it still shows no shutdown on the reporting, if it does, personally reboot the machine and try the trigger again.  If it fails after that there is most likely a communication issue or perhaps the next poster will know the system better.  Luck!
