HelpDesk Custom Tickets

Is there a way to add a field to a ticket that denotes downtime of a program. This would be used to track unscheduled downtime for various applications.

Thank you.

There are three types of custom fields: text, single-select, multi-select. That is all you've got to work with. If you want to automatically track time, you could have a rule that runs every 15 minutes to update a text field - of course this means your time would only be accurate to +/- 15 minutes.

Would there be a way to add a checkbox for the administrators to check when a program is down when working with tickets?

No. As I said, you only have three types of fields available: text, single-select, multi-select.

If I went the route of creating a text field to update every 15 min. could I run a report on that text field. Example, I have a program that is down. at the end of the month I want to run a report that shows me that text downtime (cumulative of that month or year) so I could show managment we were down this long last month compared to the previous month.

Thank you for all your help with.

Yes, you can report on anything in the database.

Can you provide more details about the program you describe? I envision a client-server app where the server side is down and thus more than one person is affected. If this is true then have you considered installing an agent and using metering to track the uptime of this app?

This sounds like what I want. I have not worked with metering. Is there a white sheet on how I could do this for a specfic application? What I have is three applications on a server. I want to be able to tell how long said application has been down in the past month/year and put it into a report.

Thank you.

The K1000 Asset Management Guide covers metering
