Is it possible to report SMART errors and Windows System health in KACE?

I would be interested in having KACE record/report Windows system errors and system health in KACE; is this possible? Is there any way to record that for an item in IP inventory?

You can query the event log and output the results to a .txt file. Kace can then run a custom inventory on that .txt file to show the results.

Custom Inventory Rule:

ShellCommandTextReturn(cmd.exe /c type C:\some\folder\event_log.txt)

This was actually addressed at the last KACE Konference. I'm sure it was posted someplace in detail but I can't find it now.

  • Don't remember which session it was in, but the presentations can be found at:

Here's my updated writeup on it, along with the original post (with slides) from Konference (which got mangled during the migration to ITNinja).  Hope that helps!
