Networked HP Printer info?
Toner and Ink requests make up about 25% of our tickets. I was curious to know if the KACE appliances can help us keep tabs on consumables in any way? It would be nice to have a central dashboard but even event based messages/emails/alerts low toner, paper jams, offline etc Ideally we could order ahead of critical low and below overstocked on the toner and receive notes on paper usage thresholds.

Realizing I'm responding to an old post...
WebJet Admin will help with this. You can set up e-mails for these events and have them to go to the helpdesk or a printer contact person. You'll need to turn on some things, but once you do you can get usage reports as well as print counts.
Of course, there are companies here in the US that will take on printer management, which is kind of a nice way to remove that headache. They monitor toner levels and come out, puti n new toner, clean the printer, and PM it as needed.
A bigger question, though, is: Why is IT putting in toner and ink? That's an expensive way to manage printers. A monkey can put in printer toner, especially in new printers. Show a couple people how to do it, post instructions, and then make responding to toner requests a really low priority. You'll get some resistance, but if you can show the end users the value in not waiting for you to do a simple task, everyone will be a lot happier.
