Reporting for online script via running as a dependency
Hi there
i have uploaded a winrar.exe as a dependency and installvia script see below:
it does run successfully when i run it manually but my question is:
is how do i pull a report regarding the success and failures for the offline script
whether it is offline or scheduled i find it difficult as the report i pull shows me give me an ID as below, that it ran but how will i know if it did install?
this is offcause without using an inventory rule as normal
please help if you know
if you need more info please let me know
thanks

By default, the K1000 doesn't know if the script delivered as a dependency ran successfully or not, it would just know that the script was executed.
You can attack this one of a couple of ways. You can either rely on k1000 software inventory to show that the software is now installed, or your script has to leave a breadcrumb like a file or a registry key once the software is installed. You could then use a custom inventory rule to look for that breadcrumb.
You would then generate a report of systems that have the software installed.
Another option would be to use the Kscript to upload logs to the client, but it has the same limitation of not really knowing if the dependency was successful or not if it was used in the same task.
You could probably add a task and use a verify step to see if the software was installed, then use the on success step to upload a log to show that it was successful.

hi Jknox
Thanks for the update and getting back to me so quickly i appreciate it
Just as a matter of interest
I work for the JD Group one of the largest retail companies with the kace client installed on ( 13198 machines) and growing
K1000 is setup that when i need a report i have to wait four days for it to check in and with reports it is utter most importance that i can pull a report waiting period one day or less
this is time consuming and it would be great to know if the script could show installed or not but will check out your last comment
thanks again
