SMA Restore from backup without license key
Hoping for some help/ideas.
In the middle of SMA upgrade from 9.0.270 to 9.1.317, the host machine CPU failed and shutdown the VM. After I moved VM to another host and boot it up, I'm now stuck in a boot loop - ufs_dirbad : /var
From my quick research, that usually means logging in as root and run fsck --- but root access is only available to Support folks and with my support level, I have to wait until Monday.
I do have a very recent backup (both base and incremental). My thought is to spin up a new 9.0.270 VM with default configuration and apply backup to get us going before Monday. However, I do not have license key to get past the initial setup process (the license key information is on the VM that's not booting).
Any suggestions/advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks!
Eddie

Spin it up.
Login as KONFIG und configure the basic settings
Login as NETDIAG (Password: netdiag) and enable ftp. (default username: kbftp; pass: getbxf)
Upload the backup to the appliance. (Rename it accordingly)
Run the krestore backup command from the netdiag console.
You are done.
I did not test it recently but should still work

the alternative is to download a FreeBSD live system and do the fsck from there (if you know what you do this would be the fastest and most effective way) - Nico_K 5 years ago
