Software updates kicked off at wrong time
Software updates seemed to have been initialized during an unscheduled period. This has made workstations unavailable for use. I do not have any updates scheduled for this time. Any reason that it would occur?
Thanks,
Altria

By "updates" I assume you mean patching?
If a machine does not have a green light when the patch schedule goes off, and you have "run when machine next comes online" checked, the machine will patch when it next comes online, whenever that is. It could be months from now, if you, say, recover a stolen or lost machine and put it back on the network.
If you want to prevent the from occurring, use the "Suspend pending tasks" checkbox.
In the example below, patch tasks will kick off for all machines with a green light at 1AM Monday morning KBOX time. If a machine does not a have a green light, it has 24 hours (1440 minutes) to get one so it can start patching. In any case, all patching tasks will wind down by 1AM Tuesday morning.

Well the machines were never disconnected. Would this happen if a scheduled install occurred when the machine was on then turned off before the patches finished?
It appears that this is the case. It is strange that this hasnt happened before while those scheduled patch settings have been in place for quite some time.
Thanks,
Altria

I was referring to the Patch Schedule. The time listed is for 10:30 pm. Since the machines were never turned off I am wondering why did the "installations"(software updates as it says on the client machines) kick off in the middle of the day at around 11 am. I suppose that would make sense if they were somehow disconnected or turned off at a certain point but this does not appear to be the case.

I'd suggest submitting a ticket to KACE support, as they'll probably want to tether to your KBOX and look at the server logs.
