K2000: Error 86 mounting KBOX installation shares
When running 1st Scripted install, I get "Mounting the KBOX install shares - System error 86 has occurred. - The specified password is not correct. Error: Unable to mount KBOX share at \\10.128.20.118\peinst"
The path it tries to map seems to be a hidden share on the K2100 box. If I try to go directly to the "peinst" share, it doesn't ask for credentials. It just denies access. Is this something that got missed when setting up the box. This is the 1st attempt to do a scripted install. The source media and scripted install were just created as it did the same thing with the one created when we did quickstart training with a KACE technician.

It's a hidden share but you should be prompted for a login. Have you changed the samba password? If so, you need to rebuild the KBE so it uses the new password.

Same error happened to us during the jump start training and the Dell trainer was shaking his head. We updated our server version and all of a sudden the KBE would not load with the same error above. We had to download the newest copy of Media Manager and recreate the KBE. The samba share password never changed during that time. Not sure if its the same issue you're having....

I downloaded Media Manager from the K2000, which is the latest revision. Did you get it elsewhere? - MNBobster 11 years ago

I am pretty sure it is because the KACE is not allowing me to link Scripted Installs to my created KBEs. It only will link to the ones that came with the box. I am currently awaiting KACE to call me. - MNBobster 11 years ago

I wanted to say that it was a download from their support site, but I can't find it anywhere except the KBOX. We tried everything. Uploading new source media, re hard-coding the Samba share password in KACE and then recreating the KBE. Nothing worked except creating the KBE with the new Media Manager. Not sure if that really helps at all other than confirming the fact the software can be quirky from time to time. We haven't had any issues since then. - timw77 11 years ago

I only installed Media Manager on the day before I posted this problem, so I don't think there is a newer version than I have. However, I am awaiting a call from the Jumpstart bunch. They messed up on a Webex yesterday and were supposed to call us back in 1/2 hour. So far, nothing. - MNBobster 11 years ago

Talked with KACE guy. I needed to change the default in "Settings and Maintenance". Now the uploaded Boot environments don't work to do a scripted installation. New problem. - MNBobster 11 years ago
