If chrome (version 22 and 23) gpu-process crashes and you get "Application Error" window, chrome becomes slow and crashes.
It is possible to override this error of the gpu process by adding "--disable-gpu" or "--disable-gpu-sandbox" to the shortcut of the chrome.
