Note
If you are having trouble installing install_flash_player_14_active_x on Windows 8 and get an error message to the effect of "adobe flash player 14 activex error 1722" in Event Viewer the fix is simple.  Windows 8 already contains Flash Player and you do not need to install the Active X version (will still need to install the plugin version for Firefox etc) of flash player https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1496507
