Patching woes - windependencies angst
When attempting to detect patches on a machine (a machine that I have patched successfully last week), I get the dreaded "error (handshake failed)" error. Following the instructions in KB114282, I discovered that the machine is missing windependencies.ospx
I copy that from a machine that does have it (as advised in the KB article) and attempt to run the detect job again. I keep an eye on the file when I kick off the patch job, and the windependencies.ospx file vanishes, and the detect job fails with the handshake error. I attempted another copy of the file, this time including the checksum file, and the same thing happens, both windependencies files disappear
Any ideas whats going on and how to correct it?
EDIT: I have noticed this same behavior on multiple machines in my environment, so it's not isolated to just one box
